Both 2017 and 2018 seemed to be years of Glamour and glitz and a lot of the makeup trends of these years were certainly more leaning towards a full face and smoky eye. But 2019 is a good time to reinvent ourselves and to finally appreciate our own natural beauty in all of its glory. If you want to make the most of your natural features this year and be more glowing, here are some of our top tips.
Mix foundation with serum
The first thing you can do which can lessen the effect of foundation on your skin is to mix a small amount of it with serum and use this on your face instead of a large amount of foundation alone. You can find beauty products like serums online and when you mix them with foundation you can end up with a more glowing and natural complexion. Less is more and this is a great tip for a stunning look.
Use contour as eyeshadow
Part of using a more natural makeup routine this year is to get rid of the bright and sparkly eye shadows and opt for a natural shadow which matches your skin tone and brings subtle definition to your lids. The ideal product for you to use to get this effect is your contour palette because it already matches your skin tone and will be easy to mix. All you need to do as a result is build up the different tones of your contour, place the darkest shade in the crease and you are done!
Go minimal on highlight
Highlight is the best and it can make the dullest skin look like a diamond, however it is far too often that we go overboard on our highlighter and it can end looking cakes and muddy on the face. Make sure that you take the opportunity to use a smaller amount of highlighter and only use it in the places you need it. You don’t need to apply highlighter everywhere because this can often make your skin look shiny and greasy.
Use mascara primer
Instead of going for a full black mascara look this year, why not switch things up and use a mascara primer instead. There are some amazing primers out there which are either clear or dark brown and they will lift your lashes without making them pop too much. It’s a great option for a beach day or for work.
Look after your skin
The base of your makeup routine will always be your skin, and if you don’t take the time to look after your skin properly, your natural makeup won’t glow as it should and you can end up needing to apply more to cover your blemishes. Try out the Japanese skin care routine which has many steps but is super effective in giving you lasting youthful skin and a stunning glow all the time. It will make all the difference and you might even be able to go completely makeup free!
